Portrait series: It's beginning to look a lot like Spooksville with Aly by Moriartie

Hello there!!

I finally got tired of having these super long nails that I couldn't do anything with and chopped them off. Which is giving me more freedom than I have had in the last month! So I figured it would be the perfect time to start catching up on the blog! I took a few spooky sets for the month of October because Halloween is everything and I’ll start talking about those before we get completely caught up for November!

DSCF3841.jpg

About a month or so ago, I finally got to catch up with Aly Isabelle! Who if you do not know is an AMAZINGLY talented Conceptual photographer! I’d been wanting to shoot with her for a really long time, and then by the time we finally linked up she was looking for a promotional model. Enter me! So we decided to trade a session and this is what I took of her!

DSCF3815.jpg

I am forever excited about the creatives I meet on Facebook! The social media site may have a few problems but it is a great place to network and collaborate with creatives in your city and state. Without it, I wouldn’t have even known half of the models I do now, and I wouldn’t have had the opportunities to photograph as I have! This is why other than my website and Instagram, Facebook is where a good portion of my presence is.

DSCF3854.jpg

Aly is spooky all the time, so I was so excited that we were able to carve out some time heading into October to take these photos! She and I met up at Spring Grove Cemetery which is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to photograph, I even contemplated getting a studio nearby! Even though I had now shot over 12 sets there, when we arrived, I took these photos in an area I hadn’t even been in before!! I love exploring new areas, so I was only too happy when she pointed out the new area!

Have you checked out Spring Grove Cemetery?

Portrait Series: We're the Wierdo's With Cayce by Moriartie

Hey There!

I’m not sure if God looked at me when he created Cayce and was like “You know what? She’s going to need an adventurous model.” or not, but it definitely seems pretty true. Every time we go out to shoot we have some kind of wacky and unplanned adventure that turns into an amazing photo shoot. The last time we got together we wound up exploring an abandoned building that is usually always locked, but for some reason, the door was unlocked, other then the impending feeling that I may fall through the floor, It was an amazing time.

DSCF3344.jpg

For this shoot, I was wandering through the city with my fiance’s family and realized that on the side of the highway was an entire sunflower field, and II took note of the coordinates so I could shoot there later, and shoot I did! Once Cayce arrived, we traipsed through the sunflower field, and the surrounding trees as well. There were quite a few vehicles that found us shooting on the side of the highway interesting because they just kept honking throughout the entire shoot.

DSCF3445.jpg

The only thing I could think of while I was shooting was the craft, so I highly consider this my first spooky/halloween-esque shoot of the year, and I am already ready for some more! Here are a few of my favorite shots, you can see the entire shoot on facebook!

Portrait Series: Abbey Road with Abby by Moriartie

Hey There!

I feel like long time no see! I finally dusted off my Fuji and headed outside, during threat of a thunderstorm to try and shake the rust off. I like the way this set came out, but I could definitely feel like I was a bit rusty. Just means I need to go back to getting out to shoot once a week again! I’d been talking to Abbey about shooting for quite sometime, and last Thursday we were finally able to make it happen! I’m so glad too, because it was such a fun and new experience for me!

Here are a few of my favorites, as always, you can see the full shoot on Facebook.

Portrait Series: Rhythm of the Night with Kelsey by Moriartie

Hey There!

I shot at night a couple of days ago and I had such a blast. Photography has introduced me to so many different ways to create and network with other creatives in my city. I really do love it so! I had the awesome opportunity to photograph with Kelsey two times in a row! Once during the day and once during the night! For this excursion we wandered around a distillery and its surrounding area at night because it was covered in lights that I just knew would be awesome for the shots I was trying to take.

DSCF2496.jpg
DSCF2498.jpg

Luckily, we wandered around and found an empty floor of a building that was being remodelled and the only light in the area was this color changing strobe, which of course I loved! I was so excited to get Kelsey in front of it and I just absolutely love with you think of something and then when you try to bring it to life it actually happens? That’s definitely the most rewarding part about photograph for me.

Portrait Series: Mousekateer with Kessiah by Moriartie

Hi There!

I wasn’t sure what kind of theme I was going with for this shoot, but afer I started editing I realized that her outfit, and smile reminded me of Mousekateers from Disney Land, and now its a thing. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Portrait Series: IDFWU With Tesha by Moriartie

Hey there!

I finally got to shoot with Tesha! I feel like I was trying to link up with her almost as long, if not longer than Dani. I love photographing bomb ass women, its my favorite thing to do , but if they’re bad ass then they are undoubtedly busy and trying to link schedules can be difficult. We wandered around townhouse row in covington, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to photograph. One of the townhouses was under construction which was absolutely perfect for the aesthetic of the shoot!

Portrait Series: Expressions with Dani by Moriartie

Hey there!

I know it’s been a while, and I feel like I start every post like this now, but I’m back with new photoshoots!!! I’ve been trying to link up with Dani for such a long time! She’s such a busy and creative woman, when our schedules finally managed to link up I could NOT let the opportunity pass me by! I had the full intention to do a full set with Dani, but her daughter Kassiah definitely stole the show! You will be able to see her photos next post.

Portrait Session: Bad Reputation with C.K. Machete by Moriartie

Hi THere!

I finally got around to going back out and photographing CK, she and I both have wild work schedules and its really hard to link up! So we’ll schedule something, and then we’ll reschedule something and then we’ll reschedule it again, but nothing happened for our Friday adventure to be canceled, and thus we met up on a super hot day and wandered through the riverfront of Covington.

DSCF1755.jpg
DSCF1696-2.jpg

The Women’s Group Shoot I went too last month has really inspired my tastes when it comes to my photography. I had never wandered through a city and taken pictures that way. I always shoot in a park or a single location. You have so much freedom when you shoot on the street, you can just keep walking until you find something else, and now I am addicted!

DSCF1704.jpg
DSCF1729.jpg

This shoot was my first city shoot since Lexington, but I had so much fun that it definitely is going to become a staple. The last time I shot with CK, I did film and it turned out so well I had to do it again! So I shot half on digital and half on two rolls of film. I had a roll of xperia and a roll of Lomochrome Purple. I’m most excited to see how the Purple is going to turn out~!

Portrait Series: Urban Princess with Megan by Moriartie

Hey There,

I had the awesome opportunity to photograph a bunch of amazing models thanks to Facebook two weeks ago. I photographed several models and I’ll be spreading them out throughout the next couple of weeks. First up is Megan, who was ready to go when she arrived to the group.

When I asked her what the concept was, she replied “Urban Princess” and I nodded, but when we got onto the street, it was obvious she was much more of a Conqueror. She commanded the frame and it was amazing. I will post up my favorites, but to see the whole set, visit my facebook.

Portrait Series: Or Whatever Stevie Said with Cayce by Moriartie

Hey There!

I was able to shoot on Tuesday and I had so much fun I didn’t know what to do with myself. Not only was the model an absolute pleasure to work with, but we braved an abandoned building together! We wandered through Eden Park, hoping for flowers, and such, but we didn’t really find anything to shoot in until we got closer to the conservatory, I really want to visit it sometime.

Here are a few of my favorites! Check out the whole gallery on Facebook!

Hello there!

I fell in love with how last weeks’ details went and decided to do it again. I have a bad habit of saying “Oh this will be a series” , and then I never actually come back to it. I thought it would be easy to keep up with this series, because I’m so easily distracted that I am constantly taking photos of everything I see, including my model, I was sure I would have content, and it turns out that I do!

I had the best opportunity the other day! I got to work with a new model! Thats the best, when you love your work, and find out that someone else does too? I’m not sure that there is a better feeling than that. We took a romp through Eden Park, and discovered that the historical Water Works that is always locked, was mysteriously unlocked, and well… How could we pass up the opportunity? I even filmed us traipsing through in true Blair Witch Fashion.

Cayce and I wandered through the building, avoiding any holes in the floor we could have fallen through, I gave my mother a heart attack, but the feeling of anticipation and trepidation I felt walking through it myself, was so much more than that, It was an absolute blast! I totally see why Dainty Squid is always off to some new place to explore.

Cayce and I were walking back when I realized what an amazing angle the gazebo was from eye level and took the photo of that roof. When I was editing her set, I decided to play around with it, I left it the way it was, edited the way Lightroom wanted, and then did a black and white one. I honestly can’t decide which one I liked the best, So I included them all.

Hello There!

I have so many pictures that don’t fit into a photo shoot, that I have been wanting to show off, so welcome to a new series. Details, one off photos, that I loved and edited, while on my travels around the city, or in between shoots, or even out takes from shoots that I still love even though they didn’t make the original cut.

I recently purchased a Fujifilm XT20, and I have fallen in love with the ease of use, and the size of it! It’s so SMALL! It fits perfectly in my daily bag, even with a 35mm, and an adapter on it! Which has been making it so much easier to shoot whenever I feel the need, instead of having to set up shoots, and then wait for the day, I‘m not a very patient person, and it will also help with the increase of content that I’ve been wanting to share with you.

My adventures took me to a few places. Jungle Jims, which I love photographing in there, every time I go there’s something new to photograph. I came home to a new cat on my porch. It’s been around a few times, but it always gets scared and runs away so I haven’t gotten the chance to interact with it. It has to be new to the neighborhood, because all the cats know that my home is a safe place.

There’s even a little alcove on my porch that they can hang out in, and there’s always a bowl of food and water for them. My job had a flag raising ceremony for Pride Month, which I loved, I missed the ceremony but was able to capture some awesome shots of the new flag flowing in the wind. When I was done admiring that, I realized there were adorable flowers underneath the flagpole that I just had to capture.
